Daily Dose of Comedy: Funny Podcasts and More

Microphone1

Podcasts have become a go-to medium in the comedy world over the past few years. The best daily and weekly comedy podcasts aren’t hosted by amateurs indulging their own sense of humor, but thoughtful, hardworking comics who have a knack for both listening to others’ opinions and expressing their own points of view.

The definitive comedy podcast has to be “WTF with Marc Maron,” a twice-weekly show that featureMicrophone1s conversations with not only the best comics in the country, but musicians, directors, and actors all speaking with Maron about their personal histories in show business. Maron’s honesty and openness create some of the most open conversations you’ll ever hear with guests at this level of celebrity.

Nerdist Industries has become the hub for some of the best podcasts in the country like the delightful “You Made it Weird,” the absurdly silly “The Todd Glass Show,” and the helpful and informative “Nerdist Writers’ Panel.” “The Nerdist,” the podcast that spawned the rest of Chris Hardwick’s comedy empire, remains one of the best comedy podcasts, consistently funny and compelling as Hardwick, Jonah Ray, and Matt Mira talk to an incredible array of guests including nerd icons like Patton Oswalt and beloved actors and improvisers like Tina Fey and Steve Carell.

The most consistently laugh-out-loud funny podcast on iTunes right now might just be Scott Aukerman’s “Comedy Bang! Bang!” With guests and recurring characters from the likes of James Adomian, Paul F. Tompkins, and Andy Daly, the show never lacks intrigue throughout fan-favorite segments like “Harris’ Phone Corner” and “Would You Rather?”

One of our favorite podcasts comes from a couple of comics who happen to be married. Christina Pazsitzky and Tom Segura’s “Your Mom’s House” is an incredibly funny podcast with a distinct tone from the rest of the shows in our download queue. As part of their High & Tight Comedy Tour, Christina and Tom will be doing a live-taping of “Your Mom’s House” that you should be sure not to miss at Fitzgerald’s in Houston, TX on August 16th at 8pm.
